The Iron Bank is on the hunt for new… investments. Over the next month, they intend to seek out and fund capable individuals with ambition in return for assistance with certain sensitive contracts.
In particular, the keyholders of the Iron Bank seem to have taken a special interest in 8 of our oldest kingdoms. They seek to determine the strongest amongst them, but they are keeping their reasonings to themselves. They promise fame and a rare and exclusive token for those who successfully rise to the challenge.
We have accepted their financial backing and organized a tourney to their specifications. However, dear reader, do remember: The Iron Bank will always have its due.
The War of Eight Kingdoms
The War of the Eight Kingdoms will be a bracket-style tournament between our 8 eldest kingdoms while we wait for the development of Stake Your Claim to complete.
Each kingdom will compete in three rounds of a single elimination KvK War For The Throne event where the results are scored based on a Cross-Kingdom Ranking Leaderboard. After each round, all participating kingdoms will receive rewards befitting their rank for rising up to the challenge, with an additional boon being granted to the ultimate winner after the tournament completes.
Here’s a quick overview of the tournament schedule:
Round 1 – Quarter Finals
The first round matchups are displayed below, and their battles will commence at 5pm ET on June 24th!
The 4 winning kingdoms will advance onto Round 2, but not all is lost for the defeated kingdoms. The remaining participants will be paired again in Round 2 in a Consolation Match.
Round 1 Rewards
If Victorious: 20% reduction buff on Pale Steel & Red Gold for the duration of the next week’s The Priest’s Shadow (Research) – 6/30 – 7/2 If Defeated: 5% reduction buff on Pale Steel & Red Gold for the duration of the next week’s The Priest’s Shadow (Research) – 6/30 – 7/2 |
Round 2 – Semi Finals
Things will start to really heat up in the second round matches, starting 5pm ET on July 8th.
The 4 winners from the previous round will battle for supremacy and fight for a spot in the Grand Finals. At the same time, the 4 defeated kingdoms from Round 1 will be paired again and square off in a series of Consolation Matches.
Whether you’re fighting to advance in the bracket or playing in a Consolation Match, you will receive the following rewards.
Round 2 Rewards
If Victorious: 20% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/15 – 7/18 If Defeated: 5% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/15 – 7/18 |
Round 3 – Grand Finals
The third and final round of the War of the Eight Kingdoms tournament will commence at 5pm ET on July 22nd.
Kingdoms who have won 2 weeks in a row will battle one last time and the victor will be crowned Grand Champion! The other 6 kingdoms will also be paired once more based on their Victory/Defeat record and fight in a final Consolation Match.
Round 3 Rewards
If Victorious: 20% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/29 at 9pm ET until 8/1 at 2am ET If Defeated: 5% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/29 – 8/1 |
A Little Kindness
We are aware of the toll that repeated combat can take. To alleviate some of the strain, the Iron Bank has graciously offered to provide some non-traditional event buffs for tournament matches (and several non-tournament events throughout the next few weeks too!)
Additionally, for tournament match ups where one kingdom is significantly younger or has a lower density population, we are considering certain buffs to help level the playing field on those kingdoms only.
Be sure to check out the event description ahead of time to know what benefits you can expect for each event!
Championship prize
After 3 grueling rounds of battle, one kingdom will reign supreme.
To event participants on this winning kingdom, an additional, exclusive reward will be granted.
The Tully March Pawn cannot be earned through any other in-game means and will set you apart from the rest of the community!
These pawn shards will be sent via a separate in-game message within 2 weeks of the tournament ending.

Update 7/15/2022 [Again]:
The issue in the previous ‘Update 7/15/2022‘ has been resolved. Thank you!
Update 7/15/2022:
Greetings! Due to technical limitations we have swapped the Round 2 and Round 3 event buff rewards of the War of the Eight Kingdoms tournament.
This means we are no longer running these two buffs:
Victorious: 20% reduction buff on Slate & Marble
Defeated: 5% reduction buff on Slate & Marble
Instead, we will be running these:
Victorious: 20% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/15 – 7/18 Defeated: 5% reduction buff on Keystone & Valyrian Stone for the duration of the next week’s Varys’s Riddle (Overall Power) event – 7/15 – 7/18 |
We are investigating the technical issue to see if it can be resolved in time to run the Marble and Slate buffs after Round 3. We apologize for the change, and please note that as soon as these buffs are functional, we fully intend to run them in a future event for the kingdoms who earned them.
Update 7/07/2022:
Greetings! Yesterday we updated this post with the event buffs for Round 2 of the War of the Eight Kingdoms tournament. As of today, this update has been removed.
The driving factor that lead us to select these buffs was population size/density of each keep level bracket per kingdom. However, after talking with the community and listening to your reactions, we’ve come to understand that the majority feels that these buffs are not necessary past the initial round.
As such, we will be removing any unique kingdom buffs for the tournament. This does not apply to the general Dead to Wounded conversion buffs that all tournament kingdoms will still receive. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and good luck this weekend in your tournament matches!
Update 6/28/2022:
In the midst of raging battle, Round One witnessed countless moments of highs and lows, triumphs and despair, and unyielding courage.
While all fought valiantly, only four Kingdoms could emerge victorious.
The victors of the Round One matchups are:
- Kingdom 828
- Kingdom 834
- Kingdom 805
- Kingdom 829
As promised to our champions, all players in the victorious Kingdoms will receive a 20% reduction buff on Pale Steel & Red Gold for the duration of this week’s The Priest’s Shadow (Research).
For their valiant efforts, all players in the defeated kingdoms will receive a 5% reduction buff on Pale Steel & Red Gold for the duration of the next week’s The Priest’s Shadow (Research).
To our winners- the Iron Bank commends your strength. They look forward to following your progression in Round 2, which will commence on July 8th at 5pm EST. The Round 2 victorious Kingdom matchups are showcased below.
To the defeated- Do not be discouraged; while the championship prize is no longer in reach, you will still be able to participate in the upcoming rounds and achieve future glory. The Round 2 defeated Kingdom matchups are showcased below.
