Greetings, everyone! I’m DanDan, an Assistant Community Manager here at Warner Bros. Games Boston. As a part of the Community team, I work with many individuals on the developer and player side of the GoT:C world, but most importantly, with our Player Council!
Our Player Council is a diverse group of players, composed of unique individuals who have shown exemplary ability to give constructive feedback, communicate broader player base perspectives, and are dedicated to helping other players within the community.
Given the Council’s role in communicating player experiences and expectations, they’ve helped represent the player voice for many hot topic features, like Preset Managers, Stake Your Claim, and Battlegrounds! Their understanding and passion for the game has pushed for high value changes, such as a new hero for ToTN, and better account deletion button placement to name a few.
Our Player Interview series aims to spotlight our Council members to reveal more about just who they are, and perhaps even illuminate the path for readers like you to apply for Court/Council!
For our next installment of our player interview series, we’ve chosen a member of our Council with a unique perspective: Freya! In their tenure, Freya has continuously approached new features with enthusiastic feedback that benefits all players. To find out more about Freya’s experiences within the community, as well as the role they play as a member of our player council, read on to their interview!
Q1. What got you into GoT:C?
Freya: Before I started to play Game of Thrones: Conquest, I liked to play different online games on my tablets. Then, like many people, I started to watch the whole Game of Thrones series. I decided to look for a Game of Thrones online game and I found Game of Thrones: Conquest. For the last 3 and a half years, I’ve left the other games behind to devote myself mainly to this one. A real addiction, lol!
Q2. What troop type do you main, and what are your levels?
Freya: I am a T8 Cavalry rider. I mainly like their speed in all areas (Creature Attack, RSS Harvesting and Node Extraction, to name a few). I was tempted by the Infantry as well, but I think it’s better to have one strong troop type than two average ones….
Q3. What does being an ambassador mean to you? Are there any features you’ve felt particularly passionate about?
Freya: I had explained to Tabris that I was a F2P (Free to Play) and a small dungeon. I also didn’t speak English very well, but she didn’t mind. I thank her very much!
Today we have a lot of players with nationalities from different countries, all with their own unique levels of keeps. This diversity allows us to have a multitude of opinions which are always shared with respect.
The Discord Stage at the beginning of the month also brings people and their opinions together from all over the world. We have access to developers in charge of the future of the game. I find that very good 🙂
Q4. What kind of player would you categorize yourself as? A conqueror, a collector…
Freya: I define myself as a Conqueror because I love competition. I think that’s what pushes us to give the best of ourselves to make progress. In sports I adopt the same state of mind. There is a quote I like from a player who once told me…
Q5. What is your current allegiance, and how long have you been with them?
Freya: It’s been more than 3 years now that I’m in the same Citadelle Allegiance.
I thank my T1 who had a lot of patience with me during all these years. She offered me the opportunity this year to attend her wedding with her T2 whom she met in the game. It was wonderful and fantastically organized – just like how she plays the game.
I thought I was stronger on my own but this allegiance has made me grow and continues to do so. You just have to listen to the right people!
Q6. What has been your greatest win in-game? What about your greatest loss?
Freya: The first Kingdom vs Kingdom I ever won. It was a great joy with a lot of adrenaline because when you are F2P, the rewards are great!
My biggest disillusionment was thinking I was strong. Every time I thought I was strong, I paid for it quickly, especially in lost troops… There are always players stronger than you in this game and pride often leads to loss.
Q6. Any shoutouts you want to make?
Freya: I would especially like to thank my wife who plays with me and supports my long days on nodes… I would also like to thank the following people who helped me so much in this game, Matthew, Sarah, Murdok, Deliria, Leia… and all my rivals who made me progress and those who continue to do so (a special thought for Lucifer, Glitter, Ragnar and Henri)
I would like to end by thanking the entire Warner Brothers Games Boston team with a special mention for Tabris. You don’t have to do all that, but you do. It shows how involved and human you are. Thank you!
Thank you for joining us, Freya! Your strong community values of competition, empathy, and collaboration have made you a valued member of our Council.
And of course, thank you to our readers! While our community can be quite large, it’s the opportunities we have to chat with you 1:1 that leave the best memories and times. If you enjoyed reading this interview and are interested in seeing how things fair on the other end of Westeros, check out Sitri’s Developer Team Interview Series. It’s a great chance to learn even more about how our individual teams work together to incorporate your feedback into the game.
