We are Ironborn. We’re not subjects, we’re not slaves. We do not plow the field or toil in the mine. We take what is ours.” ― Balon Greyjoy

Greyjoy Rebellion

Greyjoy Rebellion is a PvP event that unlocks Pyke, a Seat of Power located on the Iron Islands, north of Casterly Rock and west of the continent of Westeros. Pyke’s unique location makes it invulnerable to siege by all but the most formidable armadas or those lucky enough to possess a Dragon.

During Greyjoy Rebellion, you can take to the water just as you would the land. Selecting an ocean tile while the event is active will allow you to use an Advanced Teleport and transform your Keep into a ship. You’ll also have the opportunity to claim exclusive allegiance leaderboard rewards during the event by holding any Seat of Power.

Claiming Pyke

Pyke is a unique category of SoP called an Event-Limited Seat of Power. This means it will only unlock while the Greyjoy Rebellion event is active.

It also has March Requirements that will limit who can attack or benefit from its bonuses.

To take over Pyke, the holder:

  • Must possess a minimum of 100 bannermen.
  • Their allegiance cannot hold more than 1 Paramount Seat of Power (4 stars or above.)

There is no bannerman requirement to send Attack or Scout marches against Pyke.

You can review the paramount and bannermen requirements for Pyke by viewing Pyke’s info panel, which can be accessed by tapping the seat on the combat map, or through the Seat of Power menu.

If you fail to meet the above requirements, such as if your allegiance claims additional paramount beyond the one permitted, or if the holder of Pyke falls below the minimum of 100 bannermen, then:

  • You and your allegiance will be unable to send marches of any kind to Pyke. (Attack, Take Over, Scouts, or Reinforcements)
  • Any held Pyke Titles or Region Bonuses will no longer provide their benefits until you meet requirements again. This includes Water Teleportation.

Pykes Unlock Cycle

This Seat of Power goes through 3 distinct phases

*Check the in-game event description and SOP unlock timers for any atypical schedule adjustments

As mentioned, water teleportation is unlocked while the Greyjoy Rebellion event is active. However, once the event ends, only the allegiance who still holds Pyke will be able to continue to use water teleportation in the week that follows.

Requirements for Water Teleportation:

  • You must be Keep Level 22+
  • The Greyjoy Rebellion event must be active, OR your allegiance holds Pyke while meeting the select bannerman and paramount requirements.

Try this out by teleporting onto the Sunset Sea off the coast of Pyke! Your Keep will transform into a ship you can sail on any body of water in Westeros. Use this to maneuver closer to other coastal Seats of Power.

Only the allegiance who holds Pyke will retain the use of Water Teleportation when the Greyjoy Rebellion event is not active.

Any other keep on the water will become ‘shipwrecked’, unable to send marches of any kind until you return to land. Shipwrecked players will be offered a free Random Teleport to assist in their rescue, or they may buy/use an Advanced Teleport from their inventory.

Strategize

Now you are aware of this event and the advantages Pyke will hold, organize your allegiance and plan to conquer!

  • With new attacker tiles, holding Pyke can be a great boon to underdogs vying for other Seats of Power! Take advantage of the water tiles around coastal Seats of Power, and attempt to claim the Iron Throne from those who have held it.
  • Pyke also could also make a fantastic decoy. While other allegiances may be vying for this powerful stronghold, use the distraction to claim other Paramounts. Even claiming Pyke for a short time can allow you to use water-teleporting to your advantage during the small unlock window. Be warned, if you lose access to Pyke during the coup, such as falling below requirements or losing the seat once the event ends, you will become shipwrecked and be unable to send marches until you return to land.
  • While Kings Landing often takes a powerful allegiance to hold, use Pyke to strengthen diplomatic ties with other underdog allegiances. You have far more power banded together than you do apart, denying a more formidable team from snatching up Pyke’s resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will my Kingdom undergo a Greyjoy Rebellion?

Only once your kingdom goes through Kingdom Merge is it eligible for Greyjoy Rebellion.

Greyjoy Rebellion will appear periodically throughout your kingdom’s lifecycle, so keep an eye out in your event panel when it appears in your upcoming events.

When does Pyke open?

Pyke is an Event-Limited Seat of Power, and will only unlock while the Greyjoy Rebellion event is active. The unlock cadence is staggered across kingdoms, and times will fluctuate based on what kingdom you’re in.

What are the requirements to take over Pyke?

To take over Pyke, the holder also known as the T1 of an allegiance:

  • Must possess a minimum of 100 bannermen.
  • Their allegiance cannot hold more than 1 Paramount Seat of Power (4 stars or above.)
What if my allegiance claims two or more Paramount’s while holding Pyke?

You and your allegiance will be unable to send marches of any kind to Pyke. (Attack, Take Over, Scouts, or Reinforcements) and any held Pyke Titles or Region Bonuses will no longer provide their benefits until you meet requirements again.

This includes Water Teleportation.

Will Pyke grant an Abdication Shield like other Seats of Power?

Pyke does not grant an abdication shield when locked, so you cannot swap ownership. Abdicating when the seat is locked will mean losing access until the next Greyjoy Rebellion event. Plan accordingly.

When are you evicted from Pyke?

Typically one week after Pyke closes, you will be evicted. The seat will return to NPC control until the next Greyjoy Rebellion event unlocks it.

My allegiance has taken over Pyke, but why can’t I teleport onto the water?

You must be Keep Level 22+ to have access to Water Teleportation. You can also lose access to Water Teleports outside of Greyjoy Rebellion events if your Allegiance falls under 100 bannermen, or takes more than 1 other Paramount (4+ Stars) SoP.

Why can’t I send marches while on the water?

This means your allegiance has lost Pyke, and you have become ‘shipwrecked.’ You will be unable to send marches of any kind. (Attack, Take Over, Scouts, or Reinforcements) until you teleport off the water. Players who choose to not use an Advanced Teleport will be supplied with a Random Teleport to assist in their rescue.
